The Pioneer Woman

If you don't know who she is..find out today. I'm trying one of her sandwiches later on this week. I'm actually really tempted to make it like today because it looks and sounds so good. I'm posting the link here for records so I won't have to search for it later and also to share the LOVE.

God's Grace and his Blessing

Since we moved here to Northern Virginia our thoughts have been filled with decisions we need to make. One of the decisions was of course, finding me a doctor. I found one when I was at 36 weeks pregnant. Little did I know that it was right in the nick of time.

I was scheduled to be induced on September 4th. They wanted to induce because there are some risk with mother and baby when having gestational diabetes. I had a Dr's appt on 8-30 at 3 p.m.. I had already been having contractions that day. They were very inconsistent and not horribly painful at all. Once at the doctors office, the midwife asked if I wanted to be checked for dialation, I said yes. The week before when I had been checked by another midwife I felt like her caculations were wrong she said I was a finger tip....when at 35 weeks my Dr's office in Chesapeake said I was 50% effaced and 1 cm dialated. Anyway, back to my appt on 8-30 the midwife is checking me and she goes, it's a good thing you are being induced Sunday because you are 4-5 cm dialted. I just sat straight up while she is still checing me and started laughing. She told me if my water broke or if I started having contractions 5 mins apart then to call otherwise they would see me on Sunday. I was a bit shocked because I knew my Dr's office in Chesapeake would have sent me straight to the hospital. I was also a bit nervous to be so dialated and this being the 4th baby. I was not sure how fast I would progress. Well, I left, actually went to Bj's to get some food because we were having family come in town that weekend for my scheduled induction. I was home by 6:30 and I noticed I was having more contractions but they were all over the place so inconsistent..... but alot more frequently. ( I started writing these on the right side of the page)
I called the midwife to tell her what was going on and she said come on in to be safe than sorry. I called Aaron's sister next because she would drive 2.5 hrs down to watch the girls for us. I called her at 9 that night to let her know to come on down and she arrived at about 12:30 a.m. on August 31 st.

This is me literally about to walk out the door to head to the hospital. I think this is the only bare naked belly photo I have taken and shared with anyone.

We arrived at the hospital at 1:30 p.m. and the midwife checked me around 2 ish a.m. and I was 6 centimeters so it was GO time. I was actively progressing.

Once at the hospital and feeling very uncomfortable...can't you tell?! I was trying to smile. :)

I had to have 3 doses of meds because I had Group B+ Strep. Here I am again tryin to relax, it was impossible to get any sleep because of the hospital staff. By this point (below) it was about 6:30 in the morning and I had been awake for 25 hours straight.

Here I am....trying to stretch a little bit..moving around...walking around....

Here is Aaron below- he was emailing his coworkers/ and employees that he would not be in that day and he ended up dozing off while trying to send out that email.

Here we are. For the past 3 deliveries with my girls my mom has always been there and usually takes pictures for us...so we had to make do with just us by ourselves. I love Aaron....he looks so happy and he looks really good. I look so tired.

At about 7 a.m. that morning 2 new midwives came in for there shift to check on me. At this point I had finished my meds for Group B strep and I had not been giving pitocin or anything else to relieve the pain. I was def thinking about it at that point though. I asked the nurse how long before I could go without meds before it was to late to get anything? She told me I was already at that point. I talked to Aaron and told him that I was thinking about the epidural and asked him what he thought I should do. He told me that he thought that I liked the sound of having the baby without pain meds because it sounded good to me and he thought I would get to a point in labor and I would start feeling like WHAT DID I GET MYSELF into. When I had Gabrielle, I had gotten the epidural and within like an hour it had wore off and I went from 0-360 in 0.4 seconds. It was kind of crazy. I went from a calm zen like state to I'm going to kill someone. It happened really fast. I think that was a concern was trying to get thru the labor and not knowing how bad te pain was....mind you. I had not really had time to mentally prepare myself just with the busyness of moving to town, trying to find a doctor, getting and trying to decided education decscions for Ava, dealing with renters, I had no time to really take a class and mentally prepare my brain for it. I had doubts. Even at this point I really feel like I could have made it but like Aaron mentioned I did not want to get to a place and I was regretting trying to do this on my own. And bottom line was at this point...I was not in back breaking pain I was just very uncomfortable and wanted to be comfortable. So I decided to get that epidural.

When they checked me at 7a.m. I was at about 7 centimeters and by 8 a.m. ish I decided to get the epidural. Once they laid me back in the bed and the anestelogist left, my water had broke, that was around 8:30- 8:45. At around 10:15 a.m. they decided to give me pitocin. I was at 8 cm. At 11 I called them back in the room and told them I felt like it was time to push this baby boy right on out and they checked me. I was complete and they started to prep and set up for the delivery. 3 contractions later and at 11:33 a.m. .........

Isaiah Samuel William Button was born on August 31 st 2011.

His name, I have always liked the name Isaiah even when I was pregnant with Ava and the possibility of a boy was a possibility.

Samuel is Aaron's middle name. Aaron wanted the baby to be named after him in some form or another. Samuel is also Aaron's Dads first name.

William is my grandfathers name. My grampa was my father figure growing up. I did the coolest things with him growing up . One that sticks out the most is going fishing and crabbing with him and I can't wait to take Isaiah to do that when he is a little bit older. My grandpa is also named after his Grandfather. So Isaiah has been named after 3 (+) incredible members of his family.

weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz and 20 1/4 inches long.

Such a cutie and they are footprinitng him in this picture.

Father and Son :)

And Momma and her Boy!!! Happy Birthday !!!

Here he is at 2 weeks old. Aaron and I joke around at how much he looks like Bruce Lee with how his hair is.

So in the end and as ALWAYS the Lord once again provided for us with a safe and healthy delivery. Healthy Baby Boy. A good labor and delivery experience. Aaron's sister being available to take care of our girls. It worked out so simply and we feel very blessed that it did and in that way.
