Before and After....

So 8 years ago Aaron and I purchased a dining room table set the chairs had fabric on them and between the wear and tear and the spills on the original fabric by the time we had the two older girls they had really given them a beating. So we contemplated purchasing another table set but, of course didn't want to spend 300-700$ for a new dining room table at the time. So a really good friend of mine, gave us some fabric to recover the chairs. The brown you see below is not the original fabric. This brown was what my friend Molly gave us. ;) Aaron recovered them with the brown a few yrs ago. ALL 4 chairs, ALL by himself. OF course time passes and the kids spill fruit cocktail juice on the chairs, red Kool-aid, Spaghetti sauce- you name it, we were sitting on it. With the fabric is was just so hard to clean....

So I started asking around if anyone were getting rid of dining room chairs to replace the ones we had and also looking on craigslist. But no Hope in that area....there was still hope. My sister in law came up with a really good idea, to cover the chairs with like a leather/pleather material. It was something she had seen at her job leather on the sitting part of the chair. Anyway, I was up for the idea. After we moved in up here, she came down from Pennsylvania 2 weeks later we went to the fabric store AND

Look, I was quite embarrassed by them.....:(

TA DA!!!!! so much cleaner, neater and most important- easier to clean- KID FRIENDLY!!! All I have to do now is just wipe it off.

I think I paid maybe around 50 or 60 for the fabric, it is actually vinyl. Maybe pretty expensive for fabric but it beats paying 100$ per chair, something I did not want to do, especially since we had just moved.

I think My sister in Law did a pretty FANTABULOUS job, if I do say so myself.

Below are instructions I found from a website( dish on design) , if you would ever like to do this yourself. The pictures and instructions are pretty much what we did. Since we already recovered the chairs before, we knew what to do the second time around.

What projects are you working on? My next project is my hall bathroom and Lil' Aaron's room. :)

  1. Wow they look great!! Look like brand new chairs! And the chair itself is really nice - I like the design at the top. No need to get a whole new set just because fabric is stained. Way to go Kristina's sister!! :)
